Our local kopitiam

I am glad that Malaysia has many nice eateries around, be it high end or economical. We are never tired of exploring good food around, and it does taste better with the right partner around =)
I have managed to explore 2 local kopitiam which has been around in town for many years, and i found the food to be awesomely delicious!
Jalan Ipoh kopitiam
the row of shop next to the mosque at Jalan Ipoh,
near Sungei Mas building, Jalan Ipoh

some local beverage for our brunch

Wantan Mee - RM4.30 (Medium)
I was actually quite surprised with the quality of this wantan mee. Springy noodle and the charsiew was quite tender. The most interesting part was they used pork lard! So this is their little secret for such a humble dish....
We went here twice and he ordered twice!

This kopitiam has a stall that sells Teochew style porridge and noodles, with ingredients such as lala, fish balls, and a few kinds of fish (MaYao, ikan bawal and etc)
I ordered MaYao noodle soup
RM10.50
Like this very much, very clear soup, sweet as well, and i doubt whether they added any oil in it!
Fish meat was fresh too....
Very suitable for girls on diet like me...haha....

Restoran Mee Yoke Lim @ Chow Yang SS2, PJ

Busy saturday with big crowds around

The famous Prawn Mee - RM4.00
Right kick of spiciness in the soup, and thick broth as well
But overall was a normal Prawn noodle for both of us.....
nothing extraordinary indeed....

There is a stall selling Penang Char Kuay Teow and we decided to try, and it turned out to be a right decision!
RM4.00
Huge shrimp, full of wok-hei...the right Penang version that we seldom see in town...
I am definitely giving thumbs up for this!

Craved for popiah so i ordered this, and the minimum order is 2 pieces, at RM1.50 per piece!
A very good tactic in doing business ehh?
But it was only averageeeeeeeeee!

I know there are many good local kopitiam around which serves good and affordable foods...will definitely explore it!

New York New York deli @ One Utama

Bumped into this restaurant while spending the quality time in One Utama. I know this eatery is quite famous down south but this was the first time i have seen in KL...We were eager to try it out mainly due to its attractive interior design....

Lemonade - RM6.50
Mushroom cappucino - RM6.90
Lemonade was good but prefer it to be a bit more citrus fizzy
Mushroom soup was so-so, tasted something like the one from can
Tower Onion Rings - RM7.50
I thought they would have served in tower design!
This was perfect, very crispy. The accompanied sauce tasted something like peanut butter though....

Cape-Style Fish & Chip - RM16.90
This is the most famous order of the restaurant but i personally found it to be average only
The outer layer was too thick albeit was real crispy, and the fish meat was not fresh in my humble opinion...
Oh ya, the salad and chips tasted much more better than the main....haha!

Juicy Burger Supreme - RM16.50
We wanted to order medium rare for the meat patty but the waiter told us they only do it well done!
So the burger came out to be unsatisfactorily done!
We were definitely not satiafied with what was served but eventually still finish it la.....
Thumbs up to the fries anyway...haha!!!

Any second chance? I bet so for the short period...

Credit should be given to the outlet manager though, as we have complained to him on the doubt that we had on the food that we intended to order. Apparently he explained to us politely and gently on the specific reason and i was satisfied....
I wonder how the Singapore version taste like ~~~

Village Park @ Damansara Uptown - Best Nasi Lemak in town!

I have promised to bring the special one to try our local nasi lemak before, so that he can compare the difference between ours and Singapore. Apparently he gave a rather good comment to the one that i brought him during his previous visit to town during Xmas holiday - Village Park @ Damansara Uptown...

I ordered Cucumber + sour plum juice which did not come cheap
RM4.00
Sourish and appetising...
A very good beverage to wash down the meal at the end...

The signature - Nasi Lemak
added beef rendang
RM6.10
I am not a fans of nasi lemak but i can truly say that this is the best among in town
Rice which is just nice, not too dry nor mushy
Crispy anchovies and crunchy peanuts
Sambal with the right kick of sweet and spicy....
Beef rendang with tender meat....
A perfect combination for a good nasi lemak...

I opted for Nasi dagang with chicken rendang
RM6.70
Very fragrant rice and i like the rendang gravy very much
Not sure how to describe, just perfectly wonderful for a simple meal...
We ordered Ayam goreng berempah to share
I found this fried chicken drumstick to be amazing!

Simple meal...truly DIVINE!

Restoran LYJ @ Sungei Buloh

We went hiking at FRIM during Xmas day and headed to Sungei Buloh for lunch at this famous restaurant after that, which means all the calories burn were restored back...haha.... The boss/chef of LYJ restaurant has won many culinary awards and featured in many newspapers/magazines and even Ah Xian Food show....

This restaurant is famous for its "Pun Choy" and many other delicacies, and was featured in many floggers' blog too

Petai "Kam Foong" fish
This is very damn syok! Like the gravy very much...a bit sweet and sour coupled with the petai...at least i could not find the same dish elsewhere...

Japanese tofu with minced meat
Average, they added in the "choy pou" which is something different

does this look like white rice with soya sauce???
the sauce is actually 猪油!
猪油捞饭..what a sinful rice! But it is really worth the try...very fragrant!

Another signature dish
Poached paku pakis and mixed with lemon sauce
Very appetising and crunchy...and we could see that every table ordered this as well....

Steamed chicken...
We didn't like this dish...found it to be so-so only...

This BBQ Pork (Char Siew) is divine!
Just melted in our mouth....a perfect combination of the fat and lean portion ...
~ Yum Yum ~

We can either order white rice or porridge to go with the dishes...
A feast that fed 5 of us...only at RM105!

The battle of Hong Kong Desserts ~ Tin Pan GoGo vs Honeymoon Desserts ~

The special one was in town for the past 2 weekends and one of our favourite past times was desserts time ie 糖水时间... haha... We have tried 3 famous desserts shop in town ie KTZ, TinPan GoGo and Honeymoon Desserts, and numerous occasions been made to TinPan GoGo as well. Am not going to comment on KTZ since it has been established for many years in town and i have blogged about it before. Am going to comment on the 2 HongKong desserts shop that have made its presence in the market these 2 years....

TinPan GoGo
No36, Ground Floor, Jalan SS2/63, Petaling Jaya
They have branches in other areas as well

白果腐竹薏米- RM4.00
The foochok already been dissolved completely, generous amount of ginkgo provided too.
Not too bad but a bit sweet to my liking...

核桃露 + 汤圆 (Walnut sweet soup + glutinous ball) - RM7.00
The glutinous ball was perfect with the sesame fillings but the walnut sweet soup was too sweeeeeet! Or am i not used to this sweet soup?

花生糊 Peanut sweet soup - RM5.50
Rich, creamy, aromatic
Good ~~

炖木瓜雪耳红莲 Double boiled papaya with white fungus - RM7.00
Refreshing!

Their signature Mango HorFun - RM8.00
Coconut flavoured jelly wrapped with mango
Juicy and meltingly soft ~~

杨枝金露 Mango with pomelo sweet soup - RM6.00 (Small)
Good but the pomelo a bit bitter la..... apparently i found it a bit pricy for such a small bowl

Behind was the Taufoofar+Almond sweet soup, which he found the combination a bit weird and i hate the taste of almond sweet soup!

My Honeymoon Desserts

No. 141, Jalan Rimbunan Raya 1, Laman Rimbunan Kepong (same row as Public Bank Kepong)

Other outlets in Sunway Pyramid and One Utama

I like their tagline

Sweet potato soup - RM4.00
Sweet potato boiled until very soft but the sweet soup was extremely "hot" with the ginger taste!

Marble Soy bean curd - RM6.00
Taufoofar with a hint of sesame...something new worth to try

Double boiled papaya with white fungus - RM7.00
Similar to the one by TinPan GoGo

I personally feel that the pricing by these 2 desserts house is a bit steep, but they do really provide a rather good service and a lot of varieties of desserts provided, just like the way i have seen during my visit to Hong Kong. Definitely will go back for more desserts!
