Girls' Nite Out - Seeri Authentic Thai Restaurant & TinPan GoGo

Had a girls' nite out on a Friday together with Jiun, Lily, Min and Wai Yee. I suggested to go try a thai restaurant which i stumbled upon reading a blog that i frequented. And oh yes, the decision was correct =)

The menu stated NO MSG, i didn't feel extremely thirsty after eating so i think it's true!

Found some special drink like lemongrass/pandan tea and this water chestnut drink - RM3.00
Min who ordered this said it tasted like the one from can @_@

Me and WaiYee ordered thai coconut to cool ourself due to the super hot weather!
RM4.50

Let's see what we had that day

Green curry chicken - RM15
This dish is their recommended one but we felt that it was just so-so only..
While it was aromatic enough, i felt that the curry was a bit watery, and the chicken tasted a bit weird. Oh we found something interesting in the curry that looked like olive...

I love this
Stir fried paku pakis - RM10
Crunchy!

Tomyam seafood - RM20.00
Each of us had a bowl of this, with plenty of mixed seafood such as prawn, fish and squid.
Served in an old school charcoal steamboat, all of us liked this very much. Very flavourful even though it was not that spicy enough, still got the kick that kicked our appetite!

Steam Seabass - RM32.00
I knew we had to order this upon entering the shop. I saw it on every table!
The fish was caught live in front of our eyes as the aquarium was just a table away from us....
Steamed traditional thai style with lots of garlic, the soup itself was so sweet and the fish meat was tender too...

I had too much of this though....

Pandan chicken - RM15.00
Tender meat and fragrant enough....a dish to complete this awesome thai food experience!

The 5 of us had too much...we ordered 5 dishes!
Greedy max!
The meal came to RM113 (no tax), which i think is affordable, given the satisfaction of the thai food that we had.
The restaurant is located at the same row as Kayu Nasi Kandar at Chow Yang, SS2.

Feeling to have something sweet and to continue our endless conversation, we adjourned to TinPanGoGo for desserts...
~~ Drooling ~~

A personal desserts for each of us and durian pancakes, red bean and coconut pudding to share...
The pudding was very nice and Q enough ehh! We loved it very much!

The desserts bill came to approx RM80, and we spent nearly RM200 that night....
Expensive? Not really....cos the opportunity to catch up with the buddies was indeed priceless....

Nice Mille crepe @ Dessert's Bar

This was a visit to Dessert's Bar @ KLCC outlet during the Xmas week holiday last year when the special one was in town and we went shopping with Mom. We skipped lunch and had tea-time instead, and we settled at this nice eatery after tired of walking :P

Heard of this cafe from blogs, and saw mix comments. Some said it nothing special, some said it fantastic. Well, i was impressed with their desserts collection so here i was =)

Got this after making selection and payment at counter. They will serve us the ordered items....
noticed their signature "no colouring" ice cream...hmm...will try this next time...

We had:
Cappucino
Earl grey tea
Kiwi + mango smoothies
The Cappucino was a pretty small portion for a coffee addict like me, and it was a bit pricy given the size of the coffee. Earl grey was nothing spectacular (tea bag only ma ...haha...) but the smoothies was a surprise! Sourish and sweet enough to perk me up though :)
We just love this very much....
Honestly this was my 1st time savouring mille crepe and i really love it. I cut it by fork and ate it in the stacks of crepe, and also ate it layer by layer....both method of eating still gave me the same satisfaction!
Still remember the taste of the butter cream in between...Yummy!!!

Always heart carrot cake so i ordered this to try.
Personally feel that it was not too bad but i don't like the plenty icing in between :P

I myself feel that the pricing for the drinks here are not worth that much, but it may due to we ordered their non-signature drinks such as coffee and tea. Maybe their signature drinks like fresh smoothies and juices are worth it. Will definitely back for more cakes, crepes and desserts!!

Barley Foochok TongSui with Ginkgo nuts

Another weekend, another opportunity to boil some desserts. This time it was Barley Foochok TongSui with Ginkgo nuts...

Ingredients

Barley, ginkgo nuts, foochok (bean curd sheets), quail eggs, rock sugar

Quail egg is to be cooked, peeled skin and set aside...

Note: Thanks Mom for peeling the raw ginkgo nuts! Not easy leh....

Put the barley and ginkgo nuts into the pot with water. Let it boil a while and mix in the foochok. Add in the rock sugar....

Turn it to small fire and let it simmers...i simmered it for about 1 hour so that i can get the effect like this....

All the foochok looks like blended into the mixture and it turned out like soya bean...hehe...

By the way, quail egg was only added at the very last stage since it does not need to be cooked together...

~~ TaDaa ~~
YumYum
Many of my colleagues tried before...can ask them for opinion :p
Anyone?
Think i can open a desserts shop ^_^

Chrysanthemum Tea

The whole world is currently on swine flu alert. Coupled by the inconsistent weather in our country, i found that people around me are falling sick, mainly due to flu, sore throat and heaty body. I myself was having a bit of sore throat recently and felt the body was a lil bit heaty too. So, it's time for some refreshing drink again.......

This round, i have boiled chrysanthemum tea. Mom bought a big packet of dried chrysanthemum tea for me and i finally boiled it few days ago. Rinse 2 handful of the dried flowers, put into a pot of water, boil it, add some rock sugar depending on your liking, about 15-20 minutes later...it's done!
This tea can aid in the prevention of sore throat and promote the reduction of heat in body. It may also help relieve certain type of headaches, blurred vision, fever and dizziness. It can be safely drunk on a regular basis and it's a very refreshing drink to me.

I like to drink home-made chrysanthemum tea as those i found outside were either too watery or too sweet. Guys, hope you are good out there and if you feel heaty or going to fall sick, drink chrysanthemum tea then.....good day!

Green tea passion

I guess i don't need to explain further the goodness of green tea to all of you. Many articles have been published on the advantage of consuming green tea. Even if you have not read any article on this, please google search "green tea" on the internet then.....

I have always been a fan of green tea, apart from the coffe which i have addicted to. Oh well, guess my body needs to neutralise the caffeine from coffee so i have to take green tea to detoxify it..haha...

How fanatic am i on green tea? See below....

Ocha
My cuppa in office, especially if the air-cond is too cold
Good enough to warm me up, and it's a healthy drink too.

Green tea chiffon cake from San Terri Cottage

~~ Fluffy ~~
Those who does not fancy green tea may not like it as it tastes a bit bitter, but i like...

Green tea candy which i got during Hong Kong trip
It was imported from Japan
Rich and flavourful in green tea, the way i expected it

Green tea mousse cake from San Terri Cottage again
I fall in love with green tea cake .......

My Love
Green Tea Frappe
It was like love at first sight when i first sip on this lovely drink
It has a little dash of blueberry which made it more yummylicious, but Starbucks only selling this during last promotion. Gotta check whether they sell this again in their store...

There are many many more green tea delicacies that i have savoured before but unfortunately did not take any photo of it eg: green tea mochi, ice cream, soba, and etc. I even have a friend who bought me a tub of Haagen Dazs green tea ice cream as my b'day pressie last year, and i managed to finish whole tub....haha...
Oh well, maybe i need to get some green tea ice cream from HD as a reward for hard work these few months =)
Guys, if you want a healthier lifestyle, please consider green tea.....

Red bean paste, anyone?

Hi all....time for some dessert cooking again. It has been long since i boil red bean paste so this was my weekend "masak-masak" item...hehe...got some nice red bean from hometown so why not make it a lovely dessert?
What i had was a small bowl of red bean, soaked. Drained, and put into the rice cooker. Excuse me? Rice cooker?

Yala...it's rice cooker. For convenience sake, i always use rice cooker to boil this red bean paste. Save the hassle of watching the fire on stove if i cook using normal pot. Moreover, the soup will taste better in rice cooker since it is slow-cooked, the aroma of the red bean is just marvellous......

Let it slow cook by itself, and dump some rock sugar according to your liking, and also some sago. Normally i cook for about 2.5 - 3 hours.....by the way you need to stir it frequently to avoid the red bean from sticking inside the pot.

~~The result~~
FYI i like to put generous amount of ingredients in my cooking cos i feel since it's home-cooked, might as well treat ourself nicer and make it taste better, compared to shops outside who are very "kiamsiap" and very reluctantly putting enough portion of ingredients.
That's why maybe you can see that the red bean paste is very thick, the way i like it!
But i know some people don't like it this way @_@

Steamingly hot....yum yum
My mug of red bean paste - my dinner ^_^
I think red bean paste is the easiest dessert that one can cook at home. Just dump everything inside the pot and let it boil. Oh ya, you can add some dried mandarin orange skin to let it more fragrant. Too bad i don't have it at home.....

Corn pudding, anyone?

Some of you may know that i love to enjoy desserts. And i am more than willing to make my own desserts at home, since it is much more cheaper doing it yourself. Furthermore, it can serve as a good treat to your family and friends.
During 1 long weekend, i suddenly crave to eat corn pudding, something that i seldom eat in these few years. There are not many shops selling this pudding, and usually we can only see Malay traders selling in market or Ramadhan Bazaar. I started to love this desserts during my primary schooling. We used to have small party in school and all of us gotto contribute some food for the party. Some of my Malay classmate would bring the corn pudding baked by their mom. That was my first few encounters on this lovely dessers and has since start lovin it...

So here you go...

Ingredients:

1 can of creamy corn (i choose Ayam brand)
1 can evaporated milk
Custard powder (economy pack)
1-2 small bowl of sugar
3-4 small bowls of water
1/4 tsp salt
Procedures:
1) In a pot, whisk custard into the water a little at a time until completely dissolved.
2) Add all other ingredients.
3) Put the pot on low heat and stir constantly.
4) When the mixture thickens and starts to bubble (look like mini volcanic eruptions), turn off the heat.
Note: Stir constantly as the mixture tends to stick to the bottom of the pot. This will take about 15 minutes. When the mixture thickens and starts to erupt, the colour will start to change and become shiny.
5) Pour the mixture into a tray. Leave to cool. When cooled, refrigerate until it is cold and firm.
6) Cut and serve.

Corn pudding, anyone??

你记得吃吗?

Craved for some desserts on Sunday night. So we went to The Fruitti Stall @ Kepong. I bet many of you have known 记得吃 desserts shop for quite some time since it has been in business for many years. They have a few outlets in KL, and the most crowded one in Imbi has moved to Low Yat Plaza. I once visited the one in Low Yat and the crowd seems to be lesser. I think it is because of inconvenience in finding parking.

One funny view for the stall in Kepong...

there is one giant tree tucked in between this stall. funny ^_^

i ordered shark fin soup @_@
hahaha....
it is actually water chestnut tong sui which has some egg starchy inside. taste not bad though.
i initially wanted to eat the black sesame but was told that they do not sell on weekend. i thought weekend is suppose to have better business??? =.='''
RM2.00

my all time favourite - 皮蛋瘦肉粥 - RM2.40
i love it for being sticky and loaded with generous portion of meat and the century egg

红豆捞 Red Bean Sago Ice - RM4.50
i tried this once in previous visit and found it so-so only. nothing extraordinary.

fish fillet - RM4.70
it sucks -_-'''
it is just like fish paste and some other ingredients crumbled together and being fried without using proper recipe...

crabmeat taufu - crispy outside and soft inside. a good try
RM5.00

chinese pizza - RM3.50
绣球 - RM3.70
i never like these 2 side dishes but anyway not ordered by me....haha...
i found it plain and not worth the price

crabs shell stuffed with meat paste - RM3.50 each
nothing to shout about. just some meat paste stuffed in the crab shell. i think they mix some crab meat too. anyway, it taste ok...

pan fried dumpling - RM8.00 for 8 pieces
the dumpling is pan fried until crispy and should be eaten while it's hot. if not, the taste will make you disappointed

花生糊 - Peanut butter - RM2.00
very creamy but i felt it very sweet. the peanut taste is not as strong as to my liking

There are many other types of tong sui available, i think the price is standard @ RM2 each. They offer some double-boiled dessert and some chinese pastries as well. Since we have not seen many quality desserts shop around Kepong, this stall is definitely a good choice. Mind you, they are quite packed on the nights of weekend....
