My Farewell (VII)

I like that the managers in my group are a bunch of funny people. We have been together as a team, leading the team members for quite some years. It is a bit pity to leave a team that has performed well in the Firm. It is a bit sad to leave such a wonderful team.
I was surprised when Ed organised the awesome seafood farewell dinner for me. And the venue? Robson Heights at Taman Seputeh. A restaurant that i read the reviews from floggers. A place that is famous of crabs, my all time favourite!

Some photo session before everyone turned up
Seong Yeen, Mie, Beth, Ju and Mandy
Girl power!

With Ed. We have been in the same firm(s)..haha...
Thanks for the guidance all these years!

with Sam, who is taking over my portfolio
Good luck!

with ManMan
miss our lunches and dinners together!

this is the mixture of Guinness Stout and Heineken
i didn't quite like the taste of this mixture, so easy to get dizzy after drinking it!

This is awesome!
Claypot crabby rice. Need to wait at least 40 minutes for this.
While the crab was a bit tad dry (maybe because it's being "soaked" too long in the claypot), we all loved the rice indeed. Very flavourful.
I really do not know how to describe but it's just wonderful...
A little bit over-oily, but maybe it's this devil that made it so amazing.
I feel like having this for dinner today...haha...

PLEASE EAT ME

Their another signature dish
一枝骨
It was perfectly cooked that the meat was easily stripped off from the bones.
Rich in flavour...

Other dishes to make you drooling!!!!

Steamed 田鸡with Brands essence

Steamed fish
I don't know what fish is this but it tasted good. Afterall i love steamed fish!

Crab again!
Salted egg yolk...1 of my favourite cooking method.
They have another signature dish, Fresh water prawn with tanghoon, but they ran out of fresh water prawn that day, so we swapped it with lobster!

Gigantic!
Another drooling!!!!
So we had have enough...everyone was so full. Another photo session to end the night (not quite!)
with Tuck Wai, my unit leader
Thanks for all your consideration given all these years. Sadly i have never work with him ever since i joined the Firm!

with JC, cute boss =)

with KH, my client once said he looked like a superstar!
We then adjourned to KW's house which is nearby for wine drinking. Didn't manage to snap a lot of pictures cos my camera ran out of battery...

Final 2 photos of the night, with the Wonderful bosses.
Thanks for everything, everything, and everything!

Herbal fix

Weather changes like us female's mood nowadays... coupled with the fact of insufficient sleep due to constant travelling and late working hours, pimples start coming up on face and tiredness shown. We definitely need something refreshing and healthy enough to re-energise ourselves!

Probably need no more introduction to this famous "Leong Cha Pou" 凉茶铺
Koong Woh Tong - 恭和堂
Still remember the outlet at Chinatown which is always packed with tourists and locals.
Always head for this shop whenever i see it as i believe very much in traditional chinese herbal tea...

Their signature Gwai Ling Gou 龟苓膏
RM7 or 8
Price has increased quite abit compared to last time but fortunately the quality is still there.
Rules of eating this is to pour the amount of honey that you like and then enjoy it~~~
Gwai Ling Gou is very effective in releasing the body heat, but i cannot take too much as it's very "凉" to my body.... so i just taxed a few spoons :P

They are selling 2 types of herbal tea
This is 5 Flowers Tea - 五花茶
RM2.00 for this cup, or RM1.50 for a small bowl
This is sweet herbal tea, but i prefer the bitter one - 24 Herbs - 二十四味
Though is much much more bitter, but i somehow feel that 苦口良药 (meaning bitterness is always the best medicine)
Continued our shopping after the herbal fix...haha....

Weekend Food Crawl (II) - *SC in town*

Continuation of Part (I), me and SC went to The Gardens and Midvalley Megamall on Sunday for some hanging out before headed to Sentral for ERL to catch his plane back to Singapore. Miss ya! We bumped into my few friends in the malls too, so coincidence. So i do not need to make a formal introduction la....hehe.... i think the news will sooner or later be spreaded out...

I craved for some Taiwanese food so here we were, Foong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant @ The Gardens. Visited here before and tried their cuisine, love it very much. Price will be a bit expensive but considering the quality and ambience, i am willing to pay for it...It was Sunday, already packed even before 12pm!
They have mostly set menus, which comes with appetiser, main dish, soup and rice. Many varieties to be chosen, and the one i would like to recommend is the "3 Cup Chicken - San Bei Ji". Very aromatic dish. But we didn't order this since i have tried it before, and SC wanted something else....

WuLong Tea - RM12

Heart the way they serve it

SC's order
Zha Jiang Mian - Minced meat noodles
RM____ (hehe..forgotten. should be less than RM20)
Not too salty, tasted ngam ngam for me.
No complains from SC, so i guess it's OK...

Mie's order
Pig intestines Meesua - RM9.80
Craved this for so long and at last able to savour it. Comparable with the famous Ahzhong Meesua in Taipei which i have tried before too. Sticky gravy which i heart, and the "spare part" is not smelly at all. Garnished with some chili oil made it more appetising!

Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang - Glutinous rice wrapped with Taiwanese sausages
RM8.90
Awesomely delicious!
The glutinous rice was very flavourful, added with some dried meat floss. Taiwanese sausage as tasty as ever. You could imagine the results fom this two combinations...

Gosh i feel like going back to Taipei!

************************************

We had our early dinner at Little Penang Kafe @ Midvalley before headed to Sentral...

Always noticed that this cafe is packed with patrons but never had the intention to try it until last Sunday.... Someone wanted to eat CharKuey Teow ma...so we visited here lo....

I seriously need to god cuppa of coffee to wake me up so got myself this
Local Penang Coffee - RM3.90
Nothing different with Kopi O, but it really tasted strong. Perk me up!

Char Kuey Teow - RM9.80
This is spicy version, which according to SC was really spicy!
I tried a bite, didn't really fancy it.
Nothing special to me.....
As usual, no complains from SC... :P

My favourite - Assam Laksa
RM9.80
Shrimp paste was provided separately.
Just average
Hmm....gotta visit Penang soon for some local Penang food i guess ^_^

Otak Otak - RM8.00
Average too, but still was flavourful with the spices and we could see the fish meat.
SC was a bit disappointed on the way it was served as it was being re-heated.
Next time i bring you to Muar for the real otak-otak ok ~~~

****************************

So that ended our weekend food crawl. Next one on this coming weekend....calories counting...Gulp! Well it depends who is the companion, so i have no complain :P

Canton-i @ The Gardens - Revisit

Me and Man Man were at The Gardens attending the CPA seminar last week. We went for some shopping after it ended, then we adjourned to Canton-i for an early dinner... Since it's pretty early for dinner around 6++pm, there were not many patrons around...

We ordered "Pou Lei" chinese tea
I have been taking quite a bit of coffee in the seminar, and i consumed this for dinner.
Caffeine overdose came to effect at night!
Struggled to sleep!

Dry Noodles with BBQ Pork
Drooling~~~
Like the BBQ taste a lot. Tender Charsiew!
The noodles was a bit dry though, so we mixed with a bit of soup....
Overall this dish was rather satisfying!

艇仔粥
Sticky porridge, the way cantonese style should be
Laden with generous amount of ingredients like peanuts, shredded pork, pork skin, dry cuttlefish and etc...
Good, but MSG was added anyway...

My favourite!
姜汁撞奶
Steamed Milk with Ginger
Am a fans of ginger and this tasted real good
Soft and not overly steamed

The dinner costed us approximately RM50++. Probably overpriced ehh???

Read my previous post on this restaurant here.

Starbucks Pairing

Went for a seminar at CPA office at The Gardens South Tower on Tuesday. Reached at about 8am, but seminar only starts at 9am. Drag myself to Starbucks for a good cup of morning coffee since i woke up pretty early that day (6++ am! been too long since i woke up at this hour!!!)

I have heard that Starbucks do provide breakfast pairing so i gave it a try. Freshly brewed coffee + sandwich = RM6.90, option to upgrade to latte at an additional of RM3. Strong coffee taste, just nice to perk me up for the morning. But i found the bread was way a bit soggy. Nevertheless, still managed to finish the whole thing la....

CPA office has a coffee machine to enable participants to help themselves. Was it a tactic to get participants to stay awake during training? haha..... I ended up consuming too much coffee during the seminar and had difficulty to sleep on Tuesday night...sigh!

Din Tai Fung @ The Gardens MidValley

I had a small gathering with my JiMuis from hometown last Friday, in The Gardens Mid Valley. We decided to try DinTaiFung, a chain restaurant originated from Taiwan. They have branches in Japan, Indonesia, China USA, Singapore, HongKong, Korea and Australia. This is their 1st outlet in Malaysia. I was surprised as their history was published in Wikipedia. It means they are really famous in the world! I have once tried the DinTaiFung in Shanghai and was since hooked with its delicacies...and when DinTaiFung first opened in KL, i have visited it for a few times, this being my 3rd time...

At the entrance of the restaurant, one can easily see how the xiaolongbao and lamian was being made. A widely used concept in any Shanghainese restaurant in town...

A variety of dishes...we had difficulties in selecting!

Let's start!

Pickled Japanese cucumber - RM2.00
Very crunchy!

Chrysanthemum tea - RM14 per pot
Normal tea
Notice the cute baby behind???
~~ My baby ~~
Wei Wei, say hello to all the readers?
Oh well, too tired until she fall asleep...do not disturb!
Got a special fan somemore..

Hot & sour soup (Large) - RM11
Too sour for some of my JiMui but it is ngam-ngam for me.
Generous chunks of ingredients being put in...Good!

The best seller - Xiao Long Bao - RM9.80
I like the texture, the skin is thin enough to cover the broth and the meat, but i would prefer if the Xiao Long Bao has more broth in it...

This is supposed to be dessert but i request to be served together...
The 3rd time i am eating this and i just don't have enough of it!
Thousand Layer Cake - RM7
Dip the cake with the accompanied condensed milk and sesame sauce, you would ask for more!
I found my JiMui enjoying this very much...Good choice!

Captivated with the photo of the Shrimp Pork ShaoMai, we decided to give it a try - RM12.80
The fillings are almost the same with the XiaoLongBao but was wrapped differently with a shrimp on top of it. This skin is thicker though....

Pork Chop Fried Rice - RM14.50
The pork chop was very juicy and tender! Believe me..i can feel the juiciness when i bite it.
The fried rice was normal nevertheless....

Shrimp Wantan Soup - RM12
Dumplings in clear soup...very sweet soup by the way...

Cha Jiang Mian - RM12
The texture of the LaMian was neither too soft or hard, very "Q". The ChaJiang sauce was normal, but when i added with some chilli oil...voila! It tasted real good!

3 cups chicken - San Bei Ji - RM16.80
A rather small portion if you ask me. Nevertheless, it didn't let us down. Tender chicken meat and the dish was very flavourful with the amount of dried chillis and gingers, and i think some of basil leaves? Nice! I like.....
