Canton-i @ The Gardens - Revisit

Me and Man Man were at The Gardens attending the CPA seminar last week. We went for some shopping after it ended, then we adjourned to Canton-i for an early dinner... Since it's pretty early for dinner around 6++pm, there were not many patrons around...

We ordered "Pou Lei" chinese tea
I have been taking quite a bit of coffee in the seminar, and i consumed this for dinner.
Caffeine overdose came to effect at night!
Struggled to sleep!

Dry Noodles with BBQ Pork
Drooling~~~
Like the BBQ taste a lot. Tender Charsiew!
The noodles was a bit dry though, so we mixed with a bit of soup....
Overall this dish was rather satisfying!

艇仔粥
Sticky porridge, the way cantonese style should be
Laden with generous amount of ingredients like peanuts, shredded pork, pork skin, dry cuttlefish and etc...
Good, but MSG was added anyway...

My favourite!
姜汁撞奶
Steamed Milk with Ginger
Am a fans of ginger and this tasted real good
Soft and not overly steamed

The dinner costed us approximately RM50++. Probably overpriced ehh???

Read my previous post on this restaurant here.

WongKok CharChanTeng @ Pavillion

I blog about this chain of charchanteng before here. I went to Pavillion with ManMan on one fine evening after work, and we decided to have dinner at this eatery since both of us were craving for some Hongkie foods...

WongKok in Pavillion is considered as one of the most affordable place to get a decent meal in a proper ambience. A very good place for some chit chat and yamcha session...

We were seated beside the glass window, overlooking the traffic jam after office hour...

Honey Lemon Ice & Milk Tea Ice
We both noticed that the size of the drink is much more than usual. Perhaps they have changed the size of the glass...

We shared this borsch soup.
Hearty!

Does it look tempting??
I forgot the name of this, something like HK Style rice with honey pork rib.
The pork rib is very tender and juicy..Yummy

Baked spaghetti with fish in double sauce (white+red sauce)
Frankly, i am disappointed with this. Not as flavourful as i think it should be.
Very bland, not to my liking...somemore costs me RM14.90 for this!
Sorry no next time!

We paid around RM41 for this dinner. Worthy? You make the judge...

Wong Kok Char Chan Teng

Have not been visiting WongKok CharChanTeng for quite some time. Visited it during Sunday lunch. Their latest branch is at Brem Mall @ Kepong, which is about 10 minutes drive from where i stay. The decoration is almost the same with its earlier branches...

if you have visited HongKong, you surely know the above places...

similar to other charchanteng, we gotta tick the order form ourselves. make sure you listen carefully when the waiter repeat your order cos they are many occasions where there are food items omitted...

港式鸳鸯 HK Style YinYong - RM3.00
taste the same like other charchanteng la...

冰镇冻鸳鸯 Iced YinYong - RM4.60
the ice cube is put separately from the drink and it is always the best way to enjoy the tea in cold if you do not wish the ice to be mixed with the drink. Very nice...

罗宋汤 Borsh soup - RM4.90
normal. i can only see the cabbage and nothing else. not the way i like it to be served...

姜葱班腩炒河 Fried HorFun with Fish & Ginger Cantonese style - RM8.90
i always heart their Cantonese style dishes as the gravy is full with egg and the thickness is ngam-ngam...

蜜汁排骨拉面 Honey Pork Rib Ramen - RM9.30
the pork rib is unexpectedly tender and juicy, glazed with honey, making it comparable to our local "taichow" style of pork rib. enough "wok hei"!

are you familiar with the above =)

As far as i know, they have branches in One Utama, SS2 and Pavillion. Also, if i am not mistaken, you can get a giant size of Ice Milk Tea FOC if you visit them during your birthday. The giant milk tea can served up to 8 people. Do check with the shop if you are interested...

My idol - 阿旺....haha....

Hong Kong Miu-Kai Restaurant

Note: the photos for this post were taken using my phone, so it was a bit blur and not nice so please bear with it la...hehe..tqtq...

Remember i went to A-Mei concert last Friday? Before headed there, me and bros had early dinner at Hong Kong Miu-Kai Restaurant @ Sri Petaling. We always frequent this restaurant if we are at Sri Petaling. Good food, cosy place, and speedy service too...

HK Style Ice Milk Tea - RM2.80
Mix fruit punch wif lemon - RM4.80
No comment by bro on the milk tea so i guess it's average. But i do have big comment on the fruit punch! Absolutely.......disappointed! Canned fruit were used and mix together with lemon juice. WTH! I think i can prepare a much more better one than them. Considering the price, i think better opt for milk tea instead...

HK Polo bun with custard filling - RM1.60
This was unexpectedly delicious. The custard filling just melted in my mouth together with the fluffy bun. Perfect!
FYI, this restaurant do sell HK pastry like egg tart, wife biscuit and etc. Do give the egg tart a try, it is yummy when i tried previously.

MiuKai Fried Rice - RM7.80

The rice was fried together with some seafood and beans.
Average.

Their specialty, Braised Beef Brisket
招牌汕头牛白腩煲- RM15.80
I'm not a fan of beef brisket so i found it so-so. But it was quite ok to be eaten together with the fried rice...

Prawn SuiKow in soup - RM6.80
I noticed i always order this in each visit..haha
it was firmly stuffed with pork and fish paste and very ho jiak!

HK style wanton mee - RM6.80
Mind you, it's comparable to the Canton-i wanton mee o
Bro also always order this in each visit =.=

Total damage - RM53.14

Memoirs of HongKong cuisine in Canton-i

Some of you may know that i have been travelling to HongKong at least once a year during the past few years, be it for business trip or holiday purposes. HongKong being a metropolitan city is not only a shopping paradise, it is also a gourmet paradise! I always fancy HongKong cuisine, maybe the taste of the cuisine is very close to our local cooking method. There are many HongKong charchanteng or restaurant in KL, and i have been visiting a few too, but i found that i am always looking forward visiting Canton-i......
Canton-i is run by the same people who brought us the Dragon-i chain, same ownership, same management. Dragon-i concentrates on Shanghai cuisine while Canton-i is in HongKong food.
Was at Midvalley yesterday to watch a movie. We made decision to have lunch at Canton-i. This was my 3rd visit to Canton-i, previous 2 were at One Utama outlet. There was still a queue even though it was already 2.30 pm. The restaurant was crowded leh...so we gotta wait outside...

They really made an effort on every details. The waiting chit has got its design somemore!

Open kitchen made transparent for viewing, just like those in HongKong.
I think it's their strategy to attract customers
Some pastry being displayed and available for take-away.
Tried this in my 1st visit last time. Their signature tart. Taste OK, not too sweet.

The menu obviously shows the HongKong feel

Are you ready? Let's eat!

港式奶茶 HongKong Milk Tea, Hot/Cold. RM5.50 each.
Way a bit expensive compared to other charchanteng, as they are using imported Black and White evaporated milk from HongKong.
The milk tea is milky! I think Mr Sim would love this!

港式鲜虾云吞面 Hong Kong Signature Prawn Wonton Noodle (Dry)
RM10 - RM13 (I forgotten the exact price la...)
This is really almost the same with HongKong. I only heart the wonton and not the noodle when i eat in HongKong. Here is the same. Maybe i am used to local wonton mee. But you must try the wonton. Simply delicious and awesome!

Do you see the succulent shrimp? A nice wonton must contain approx 70% of shrimp and the balance is the paste. Definitely different compared to our local wonton...

冰镇波萝包 Polo Bun with butter (RM 4)
I had high expectation only left to a big disappointment. The bun is a bit hard. Not sure whether it was fresh made daily. But taste ok, especially after the butter is melt and eaten together...fuyoh!
香煎XO浆肠粉 Pan fried CheeCheongFun with XO sauce
RM9.90
A bit salty to my liking, maybe due to the accompanied sauce.Worth a try since i never see this in other restaurant...
And the star of the lunch....
3 combinations of roasts - BBQ pork 叉烧 , Roasted duck 烧鸭, Roasted pork 烧肉
RM29.80
TAADAAAAAAAAAA.........!!!!!!!!
Juicy and tender, can compete with Meng Kee oo... 各有千秋 la...

Crispy skin, melted in the mouth...
This is normal. Nothing extraordinary to shout about. Local one tastes better...

What a heavy late lunch! But we enjoyed it.... *_^
