Babe's bday celebration @ Bella Italia

We have a few Jimui whose birthday falls in July. Why July is such a productive month ah??? Having no idea where to celebrate, i suggested Bella Italia @ SS2 which i blog before, and they agreed since i kept on saying it's a very lovely and homey Italian restaurant, and most of them never visited there before....

Birthday girl I
Lily with her beloved husband, Chee Loong (i hope i spell it correct :P)

Birthday girl II
Meagan (Left) with Charmaine

Birthday girl III
Regene with Mie
The cousins always end up sitting together..haha...

Regene, Mie, Satine

Ok, let's see what we had on that night....We got everyone to order 1 dish each, ended up our table was so full with foods ~~~~

Mushroom soup which i strongly recommended, and they gave thumbs up too...

Forgot the name of this soup, something with italian name

A kind of seafood soup which looked like tomyam. Like the tanginess and the generous amount of seafood, expect mussels, lala, squid, prawn and so on.....

We love this very much
Fried button mushroom
Crispy on the outside. Like the accompanied salad sauce too...

Their signature pizza
Thin crust pizza, a bit dry in my opinion.

Seafood lasagna
Like the cheesiness!!!

Salmon fettucini/linguini
Awesome! Very nice...

This is spaghetti with fried chicken strips
A bit spicy, and the sauce is a bit watery. Quite flavourful though, but the chicken strip was way bit a lil hard...

My all time favourite
Lamb Shank
Lamb was cooked perfectly well, very tender...
We love the sauce too...next time must get some garlic bread to go with!
Portion is a bit too much for 1 person, but we were sharing...

Grilled Salmon
Normal, but well marinated though....

Some kind of beef fillets
Very juicy and tender, yum yum!

The Spread
All were so full!

~ Us ~
Merry Merry birthday to 3 lovely ladies

We were full but still have a little room for lovely desserts...hehe...
Just can't resist the temptation of their TIRAMISU !!
We then wanted to adjourn to Murni which is just next door but couldn't find any empty table, although the number of tables has spread across row of shops! So we ended up to Leo's cafe, where Yoon Li joined us and we hang around..... Till we fix another gathering again my lovely Jimuis!

Enjoy your life before it's too late....

I am a fans of Yasmin Ahmad, a well-known lady director in Malaysia. I like the way she presented her movies. I like the way she presented TV commercials, mostly for Petronas especially during Merdeka season. All her movies and "muhibbah" commercials have captured my heart and it made me feel very touched. There is no boundary among peoples, all races to her are the same. I read from a newspaper that she herself was married to an Indian guy previously before divorced and married a Chinese guy.....
I followed her news closely ever since i knew that she collapsed unconsciously during a meeting at TV3 (if i'm not mistaken). Her condition went critical, and finally bid a farewell to us and was laid to rest yesterday..... Rest in peace ~~~
The sudden death of her has made me wonder a lot of things. Life is really short if you ask me now, we really wouldn't know what will happen tomorrow. Well i am not trying to give any negative influence here, but what i am trying to say is:
  • if you have any dreams, please make it happen no matter what, before you lose the chance...
  • please enjoy your life even though your career has occupied most of your time. Plan your time wisely, and spend the after-work and weekend time with the people you love, be it your family, kids, spouse or friends....
  • if you have something to tell a special one, please tell him/her as soon as possible. Do not think that you will lose a friend after telling that, as you will definitely regret if you never tell them so. Do not let the feeling of regret haunting you the rest of your life...
  • be inspired by your gut feel and do what your heart tells you.....
  • people dying to finish high school, dying to finish tertiary study, dying to start working, dying to get married and have children, dying to give the best for the family, dying to retire, and when people is really dying, suddenly people realise that they forgot to LIVE. Please don't let this situation to happen to you....

I do not wish to live a life of wondering what-if. I rather say it out loud and have an answer. It may not be the answer that i wish, but at least i tried and will never regret....

Life is very short, so break your silly ego, forgive quickly, believe slowly, love truly, laugh loudly and never avoid anything that makes you smile....

Dear readers, please live life to the fullest....Don't let any golden opportunity slip your way. If you feel to do something, just do it.

I am enjoying my life with my loved ones (including a special one who is currently in SG ^_^) and i love my career. I sincerely hope you do.....

Restoran Taiping Lang @ Puchong Jaya

It's been a travelling month for me, travelling here and there to client's office, which are all a bit distance from my office. A bit tiring, but it's fun to have the opportunity to savour nice foods at those areas.....
Latest frequent area is Puchong, which is about half an hour drive from KL (if no traffic jam). A few colleagues staying here too, and i have a client here which i need to visit every year during this period. Puchong folks are very lucky, many nice eateries around and my team has difficulty making decision where to have breakfast and lunch during their engagement period here!
I was there on last Tuesday and brought them to a restaurant which i didn't visit since a year ago....

Stepping into the restaurant is like walking down memory lane...Nostalgic feeling as many antiques are used as decorative items...

Info from www.taipinglang.com

Restoran Taiping Lang serves northern Malaysian-Hokkien home style cooking. Each menu has four main sets, which we named Ah Mah’s Banquets. We strongly recommend these sets for your best savouring experience in Restoran Taiping Lang. Each set is presented with combinations of different dishes and the blending of tastes – such as spicy with savoury, sour with sweet, strong with delicate. We also serve our dishes a la carte, you can choose any dishes from the main sets or our daily side dishes.

Three different sets of menus – “T”, “P”, “L” are rotated every two days for you to relish greater varieties of grandma’s recipes.

Restoran Taiping Lang serves homestyle and simple foods, and has earned reputations among foodies and neighbourhood. They have been featured many times in local newspapers and food programmes...

Featured in Taiwan's food programme too...which so happened i watched it too!

Enough about the fame. Let's move on to food review ~~~
5 of us, we ordered 2 sets for 2 pax each, and ala carte of 2 more side dishes

Hong Ba
Pork stewed with mushroom and spices
Pork was cooked until very tender, not too salty

Bangkuang Cha
"Sengkuang" shredded and fried with cuttlefish, with dried prawns and some other ingredients.
They provided some leafy to wrap together with this. Simple yet aromatic, easily our favourite dish here.....

Achat
Spicy pickled vegetables
Crunchy veges, like the generous amount of sesame and peanuts sprinkled.
Some find it too spicy, but i couldn't stop munching on this....

Gulai Hu
Fish curry
Thick curry paste, sour and spicy enough...

Ba Kian
Fried pork sausages - nyonya style
This was delish, identical in taste to "lo bak" in Penang. A very good version of marinated minced meat roll....

Kiam Chai Buey
Mixed vegetable stew - sour
Sourness "ngam-ngam" for us

Cincalok Ba
Pork stir-fried with cincalok shrimps
This dish ended up being left out, probably my team did not really fancy the taste of cincalok....
A pretty normal dish indeed...

Soup of the day, which is part of the lunch set...

You can choose either rice or porridge to go with the dishes, and it's free refill....

Something extraordinary that we never see before, recommended by the waitress....
A type of fish, fried and stuffed with shrimp sambal....

Looks like this...
The fish skin is a bit hard and Mint who is from Taiping told us that normally no one will eat the skin. We like the sambal very much, and it tasted better when mixed with the fish meat.
Amazing....

Leng-Kak-Chee Leong Fun
Cincau drink with soaked basil seeds (biji selasih)
A very refreshing drink! A hit with me!

Rojak as desserts for us
RM 5 for this
3 variety of items, which i think is a bit little. Like the way they serve the rojak paste separately, a lot of sesame added, and the paste was very thick and flavourful too...
Our bill came to about RM90++, prices are a lil bit on high side given the portion size. But honestly, a visit here is worth, given the quality of foods and nostalgic sense...

Savoury Fish Head Beehoon @ Kota Kemuning

I was at Kota Kemuning for lunch again last week, together with my team mate. Heard from them that the fish head beehoon at MCF Fish & Noodle Restaurant is pretty good so i suggested to have lunch there. Am a die hard fans of fish head beehoon ^_^

The restaurant sells fish head beehoon in a variety of fish, such as Song Yu, Tenggiri, Ma Yau, Garoupa and even Salmon. Side dishes such as yong tau foo, fish cake and vegetables are also available. I can't imagine the taste of salmon fish beehoon....sounds weird to me. You can even order additional fish slices if you want more....

Simple set up in the restaurant, almost full by the time we left...

The lady boss said their fruit juice is pure and no water or sugar was added, but i felt my carrot juice was diluted....hmmm....

A plate of vegetables for sharing - RM8

Fish Beehoon - Fresh Ma Yau fish slices
RM 12

Additional Fried Ma Yau fish slices - RM 8.50

Fish Head Beehoon - Fried Ma Yau Fish Head
RM 12

Comments:
Fish slices - Fresh and not too dry after being fried.
Fish head - Fresh and meaty enough. Enjoy the process of digging out the fish meat!
Soup - Clear broth, sweet, tangy enough for us to crave more. Creamy effect to the fullest. Awesome!
A pretty good restaurant serving authentic fish head noodles. Price wise, i would think it's a bit on the high side, but a better quality of fish is being used so we gotta pay a premium. Anyway, Kota Kemuning folks can afford to pay such, Yes/No?
