So SC was in town again last weekend ^_^ so i finally brought him to a local dimsum restaurant for his dimsum craving....said wanna "YamCha" in the morning wo ....
There are a few local dimsum shops that i have been visiting, but the nice one is located quite a bit too far from where we stay. The nearest one is either PJ or Damansara area. Being a foodie myself, i know there is a real famous Hong Kee Dim Sum located at Damansara Jaya. Many floggers have blog about this shop before and i myself is yearning to try it out. Having no idea where the exact location is, i sought help from my colleague, Anny who happened to go there before. Thanks Anny!
So we reached there about 9++ am, just before the Saturday crowd which only happened to come around 10 am...i wonder why. PJ folks wake up quite late on Saturday....
A full table with assorted steamed and fried dimsum
Only 2 of us
Wow ~~~
A must order in any dimsum place
Prawn Dumpling a.k.a Har Gao 虾饺 - tasted normal but it was fully wrapped with succulent and big size of prawn.
Pork Dumpling a.k.a Siew Mai 烧卖 - looked tempting with the fish roe sprinkled on top. Juicy enough...
ps: sorry for the blur effect of Siew Mai, steaming hot when i took the pict hence the smoky effect on the pict!
The ribs were not that tender but it's flavourful afterall...
Took a bite of this, not really fancy it.
Average
Pan fried until the outer layer is crispy enough, but the inner layer is still soft and smooth. Yum Yum
I like this very much ~~~ SC like this too ~~~
Basically is another meat dumpling with some sharkfin, but couldn't really tasted the sharkfin ehh....
Crispy on the outside, fillings tasted real delicious with flavourful taste of charsiew
Good!
凤爪 Chicken feet
Probably it's not braised timely enough, it tasted not that soft as i expected. Still favour the one at Jalan Ipoh....
Cheong Fun with shrimp and BBQ meat
Quite smooth but the accompanied sambal was a bit dry and lacked a bit oomph...i prefer it to be more spicy..
Not bad anyway ~~~
Star of the shop and their signature
Sang Chow Loh Mai Fan - Fried Glutinous Rice
Glutinous rice was stir-fry with generous amount of chinese sausages, dried shrimp, waxed meat and eggs...
Grains by grains, very aromatic.
Gosh i feel like going back there again for this !
By the way, this is only available on weekend...
Xiao Long Bao 小笼包
A little disappointed. Meat filling was a bit bland as compared to the Siew Mai version, and it's not steamed properly as the soup in the dumpling leak out when this reached our table...
(ahem...i was NOT the one ordered ah.. :P )
Surprisingly, this was awesomely refreshing. The jelly was not too soft nor too hard, tasted just perfectly to suit SC's preference. Not too sweet too.
But i still find it a bit weird to eat this early in the morning....haha...
Cars started to double park...i can imagine the crowd will be much more on Sunday...
Looking forward visiting here again soon. Still have many more dim sum that i would love to try, such as:
- stir fry radish cake - like the "wok hei" and generous amount of bean sprouts and preserved radish
- stuffed brinjal/bittergourd - floggers commented that it's real good
- porridge - we ordered, but the waiter said they didn't serve, but i saw another waiter serving it to our next table! I was already too ful by the time i saw this....
- some other fried stuff such as mayo shrimps and etc....
Friends, let's organise a dimsum session? Interested? Hehe....
