Do you like it hot or cold?

One of my favourite past time during weekend is cooking/baking. And i love to boil soup and making some desserts as well. I decided to boil Luohanguo drink wif longan & tongkua on last weekend, since it was a bit heaty outside.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
罗汉果 Luohanguo was named after advanced Buddhist practitioners, called "罗汉 Luohan". The Chinese call Luohanguo the "longevity fruit" because the steep mountain fields in Guangxi province where it is grown have an unusual number of residents that live to be 100 years old or more!
Luohanguo is a cousin of the cucumber, and a member of the gourd family of fruits. It's a round and smooth, dusty green-brown fruit that is covered with fine soft hairs, and a hard but thin shell. The fruit is used only after it is dried, and can be processed into a powder that contains natural substances called mongrosides in it. These natural compounds make luohanguo a whopping 300 times sweeter than sugar, and are also responsible for some of the health benefits associated with this fruit.
Drinks made from luohanguo are known to:
- Relieve throat inflammation or cough.
- Cool heat stroke.
- Relieve digestive distress.
Info of the above was extracted from internet.
Ingredients:
Luohanguo, dried longan, red dates, rock sugar, honey dates (not in pict)
罗汉果,龙眼,红枣,冰糖,蜜枣
put all ingredients in a big pot of water. keep it boiling....
boil for 1 hour. or u can opt for slow cooking for approx 2-3 hrs.
DONE!
you can serve it hot or cold, depending on your preference.
Do you ever wonder when you eat outside, especially in kopitiam/foodcourt/some small restaurant or eateries, the Luohanguo drink cost at least RM1.50 per glass, and it is sometimes very sweet and lack of luohanguo taste. Why not boil a big pot at home, and share it with your lovely family? Good thing does not need to come costly, especially during current economic situation. Furthermore, the cooking steps are very easy and it is a very healthy drink. If you are watching your diet, just dont put too much rock sugar lo....
So, do you like it hot or cold? :-) Happy boiling....
